Letters to Avery From Dad

Dear Avery,
It has been a long time since you have heard from me because you were going to have my e-mail blocked based on what you said in your letter of April 30, 2008
  You quoted me. "  you are too busy to talk as it was today "  and then you said. " Yes, that’s right. I was too busy to talk to anyone because, exactly as I said – I had a presentation to give an hour ago.

I haven’t slept a wink in 30 hours, so now that I’ve given my presentation to my research committee, I am going to sleep for a bit so I can go out with some friends tonight.

If you wonder why I don’t enjoy talking with you anymore – try looking at this situation as a prime example, and be honest with yourself. You called me in the middle of my day, and I told you I was completely slammed for time and would need to talk to you after today (Wednesday). Instead of responding that we should chat later in the week and wishing me good luck in preparing and delivering my presentation, you acted all negative and hung up angry.

And now, you’re sending me e-mails with negative connotations. So, why should I have any interest in talking with you when you always respond in this or similar manners? I’m done with negativism in my life, and that extends to anyone who brings negativism into my life. So, it’s your choice. Be honest with yourself.

Do something that genuinely makes you happy today, and enjoy life. Turn your frown upside-down…Avery.

So you are not able to handle anything negative in your life.  Well Avery, time will take care of that. As you get older you will learn that most of the things that happen will be negative. How you deal with them is going to be a part of your maturity. Blocking them out like you have me is a step that may change. I too may re-edit this as time goes on as I mature more than my 68 years.

In any event I feel the need to record my thoughts before my funeral so you can then have something to read after my funeral when you feel you can justify the time  to allow yourself to hear what your Dad had to say. So this will be sort of like my "mind  journal" and you may want to sneak in and read it sometime as the girls will probably tell you that it is here. Up until you became a teenage we were extremely close. You went with me every chance you could. I wish it were that way again but it probably won't.  You will all ways be able to find the page by click on your inititials at the top of my blue boxes. My websites are in the "include" pages below.  10-9-08 Hi Avery, Tuesday  my cell phone  slid out of my pocket in to Buffalo Bayou as I was at the bottom of the red stairs  www.BuffaloBayouStadium.com  Dumb me. I do recal just prior feeling my shirt pocket to be sure it wasn't there but I was wrong. So in picking a new cell phone from  AT&T I had a choice of Black, Silver or Red.. I chose red as a reminder tome to not do stupid things like I did on the bottom of the red stairs  clear brush cought on the handrail.
A half hour a go I felt stabbing pain in the lower left by my rib cage. Mom has been after me to keep calling the Dr. to check out my excessive coughing.  It could be my lungs are filling up  too much again.

Yesterday I watched the congressional hearing on CSPAN ch. 56  with 3 AIG Executives. One congressman violently yells at an AIG CEO stating  " The money you have taken  from the AIG Stockholders with a golden parachute and other fees is pathetic. You didn't deserve it. Are you going to give any of that back?"    The answer was " No."
 
Another Congresswoman asked the  AIG CEO  asked "On Friday your company was rated AA. The next week you are in here asking for billions of  dollars from the Federal Government.  How is that possible.?" 
The AIG  answer was "You will have to talk to the rating agency."
ith corrupted rating companies where can Brian  trust anybody about investing in  anything?

If the government buys up the bad mortgages who is going to get the money?  If they refinance at a lower rate and reduce the principal to a smaller is that fair to all tax payers.  Who takes the losses on a bad investment. 
 
If the presidential candidates are going to create more jobs how are they going to do it?
 
If they give you $ 1000 to spend to get the economy going and you spend it on little things stamped with made in China does it create any jobs?

The presidential candidates have been asked what part of their plan would be cut because of the great monies spent last week  to save the credit industry.  Nothing  is to be cut out. Why can't they answer the questions?

Maybe you think all things will work out.  Yes they will, but we are going to have to make a lot of changes, give up a lot of things and change our attitude  about almost everything.

10-9-08 Yesterday I received a CD which was a power point slide show about 50th class reunion in Ironwood which I as unable to attend.  It was really interesting. It is amazing what  faces I remember after 50 years. There were a lot of pictures of the class members at graduation and then 50 years later. What changes our body makes. Enjoy your youth.
